Cowork Penticton Provides Small Companies With Much-Needed Exposure

May 9th, 2015

For Immediate Release

PENTICTON, BC: On Sunday May 31st, the first Micro Business Expo will open its doors in Penticton. The event is being hosted by Cowork Penticton located at 125 Eckhardt Ave E, Penticton. The event showcases a plethora of businesses offering services to other businesses. Spotted in Penticton and its parent company, Sirf Marketing, will be one of the exhibitors at the event. We will be providing live posts/tweets from the expo, as well as, doing a followup story.

“The Micro Business Expo is intended to answer the question facing many decision-makers… ‘Where can I find a local expert in _____ to help me move my business forward?’ Our region is filled with companies with less than 5 employees who may not have the marketing budget to be top-of-mind when that question gets asked. So this Expo is designed to alleviate this pain point” says Cowork Penticton owner, Jennifer Vincent.

“This showcase provides a single convenient location to learn from others while showcasing their own businesses.”

Penticton Economic Development Officer, Colleen Pennington

Free to the public, the Micro Business Expo is also very affordable for exhibitors. At only $30 a booth position, the spaces are filling up quickly with web designers, business consultants, interior planners, marketing specialists, professionals in law and accounting and even trades that support business operations. Ongoing throughout the day are free workshops on topics relevant to business owners such as managing email inbox overload, online reputation management and using DiSC profiles to build better relationships.

The public is invited to attend the showcase for free from 11am-4pm. Refreshments from Cannery Brewing, Upper Bench Winery will be available for purchase, as well as espresso coffees and locally made craft soda from The People’s Craft House. Details on the event, including a schedule of free workshops is available at www.microbizexpo.com

It’s clear that micro businesses are of big importance in the community with a great response from sponsors such as the City of Penticton, The Penticton Herald, Sun FM, EZ Rock, Community Futures Okanagan Similkameen, Futurpreneur, the Downtown Penticton Association, Basanti Interactive Media, Upper Bench Winery and Cannery Brewing.

Economic Development Officer for the City of Penticton, Colleen Pennington says, “Small business is extremely important to Penticton’s economy. Often people are so busy in their businesses they don’t get the time to explore new partnerships, exchange best practices, find new local suppliers or to get ideas. This showcase provides a single convenient location to learn from others while showcasing their own businesses.“

A few positions remain for exhibitors, and the event is expected to be sold out soon.
